Similar to dry or sweet stout, but with more gravity. Pale and dark roasted malts and grains. Hops mostly for bitterness. May use adjuncts and sugar to boost gravity. Ale yeast (although some tropical stouts are brewed with lager yeast).

Yeast Strain(s) Used: WYeast Super High Gravity
Fermentaion Temp: 68°F
1 oz. of the Kent Goldings were First Wort Hopped for 45 minutes, while the second ounce was dry hopped for 1 week during the secondary fermentation. One half stick of brewer's licorice was added during the last minutes of the boil for improved head. Bottle conditioned using 5 ounces of honey for the primer.
